Boston Dynamics Gives Atlas a Four-Fingered Factory Hand: Hyundai Bets on 25,000 Robots and a 30,000-a-Year Megafactory to Challenge Tesla Optimus
Boston Dynamics has unveiled GR3, a four-fingered factory hand for its Atlas humanoid with 13 degrees of freedom — capable of threading drill bits, tightening nuts and spinning two golf balls in one hand. Parent Hyundai Motor Group has committed to 25,000 Atlas units across its plants and is planning a 30,000-robots-per-year U.S. megafactory by 2028, directly challenging Tesla’s Optimus. The humanoid race has officially moved from viral demos to factory shift schedules.
